After initiating another search for a new car I havent been able to come up with much but this M3 is calling my name saying “Save me. Love me. Autocross me.” BUT as is the ever present issue with old M cars I have a feeling that there is easily $3k worth of upkeep that it needs and I dont have.

Hmmm well if he has all the original equipment and a few extras like the ad states then this seems to be a decent deal. Especially if you can walk him back on the price a bit.
Edmunds said in it’s condition it’s worth $4400. I chose average as it’s condition because this is how they word it.
“Average - May have a few mechanical and/or cosmetic problems and may require a considerable amount of reconditioning”
I believe that is fairly accurate.

Yea, I wouldnt offer much over $4500 and thats provided that there are no major mechanical issues

I think it would be worth a kick. I can see $3K of upkeep over 2 year period, w/ 500-$2K upfront. $400 cooling rebuild, $100 fluids & filters, $300 for CCV stuff, $200 brakes, $600 new suspension components... $500 for coils, plugs, injector rebuilds, various gaskets, vanos rebuild kit. $800 for F&R Koni yellows, and $1.2K if you went w/ brand new rubber and wheels.
Wonder if they would go for $3.5K w/o the second set of wheels. Those “DS2’s” look fucked - I’d buy a set of wheels/tires of choice.
Door cards were screwed in & glued to door which usually means a PO half-assed other things. Curious about the oil temp and pressure gauges. Wonder if tapped by the oil sensor dummy light sensor.. can be weepy.

Nope, I wouldn’t pay over $2,000 for that thing. Looks like it’s been severely abused and would end up a money pit.
